Oyster cases vary by model: basic Oyster models offer 100m (10 ATM), Submariner and Sea-Dweller offer 300m (30 ATM) and 1,220m (122 ATM) respectively, and the Deepsea achieves 3,900m (390 ATM). This range covers everything from everyday water resistance to professional saturation diving. The Oyster crown must be screwed down after setting the time to seal the watch. When unscrewed, the crown creates an opening in the case that bypasses all other seals. Wearing a Rolex with an unscrewed crown near water can allow moisture ingress, voiding water resistance entirely. Rolex's Twinlock and Triplock crown systems provide double and triple sealing layers respectively for enhanced protection.
