Krayon is a Swiss independent watchmaker specializing in mechanically calculating sunrise and sunset times, blending technical innovation with artistic design
Krayon is an independent Swiss watch brand founded in 2013 by movement constructor Rémi Maillat. Renowned for its innovative approach to horology, Krayon specializes in creating timepieces that mechanically calculate and display sunrise and sunset times based on geographical location. This unique focus has positioned Krayon at the intersection of art, science, and watchmaking craftsmanship. The brand’s debut model, the Everywhere, introduced in 2017, was a groundbreaking achievement in watchmaking. It featured a universal mechanical calculator capable of determining sunrise and sunset times for any location on Earth, adjusted via the crown. This innovation earned Krayon the Innovation Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2018. Building on this success, Krayon launched the Anywhere model, which offers a more streamlined approach by displaying sunrise and sunset times for a specific, user-defined location. The Anywhere features the in-house Caliber C030, a hand-wound movement with 432 components, offering a 72-hour power reserve. Its design includes peripheral discs indicating day and night lengths, providing a visual representation of the changing seasons. Krayon’s commitment to artistry is evident in its Métiers d’Art editions, such as the Anywhere Arborea, which features a hand-painted dial inspired by Henri Rousseau’s “The Virgin Forest at Sunset.” Limited to 15 pieces, this model exemplifies the brand’s dedication to blending fine art with horological innovation. Operating from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, Krayon produces its timepieces in extremely limited quantities, emphasizing exclusivity and bespoke craftsmanship. Each watch is a testament to the brand’s philosophy of harmonizing technical complexity with aesthetic elegance, offering collectors a unique perspective on the measurement of time.
